| | dolly parton songs turned inside out by howard stern | | I never have been an avid listener to howard stern, but I do like some of dolly parton's work. dolly is furious and has said if ever there was a reason for a lawsuit this is it. turns out stern has taken her songs and audio books and spliced the audio together to make it sound like she is racist and promiscious. I know stern didn't mean anything evil with it and I have found some things he has done funny but dolly might have a point here. how do you feel about this? | |
| | Dolly Parton wants to sue Howard Stern! | | Dolly Parton wants to sue Howard Stern, or rather, the Howard Stern show for using bits from one of her audio books last week so they sound like racist slurs and sexually graphic sound bites, commenting on people like Kenny Rogers, Linda Ronstadt, Burt Reynolds and Johnny Carson in a segment that aired on May 6. She says she's never been so shocked, hurt and humiliated in her life, and can't believe what Howard Stern has done to her, saying in a "blue million years" she would never say such vulgar things. But I guess the "Stern" show regularly uses altered clips from William Shatner, Oprah Winfrey and others... Do you think this is right, that the Howard Stern show should do this? Do you think Dolly should sue? Or just figure Stern does this, and no one would likely take it seriously? What do you think? (I can see itboth ways! But I don't think I'd like it if it was done to me, or if I was Dolly.) | |
| | A song from Dolly Parton | | I heard a song today by Dolly Parton.. It is called Hello God.. Has anyone heard it and did it give you a lift, a boost, or a renewed spirit?? I know that it did for me, I felt the Lord as I haven't felt him in a long time.. It has re-energized my spirit and made me want everyone to hear it.. If you will Google "Hello God, by Dolly Parton", you will want to turn your speakers up, you will get a blessing like never before.. Please listen to it and scroll down the page to see the lyrics, you will not be disappointed.. Let me know if you listened to it, liked it, bought it, or just felt renewed by it.. I am lacking in my personal life with Christ and I do know that I need to do more, but this song made me know that I am going to do more.. After all, Jesus has done more for me than anyone else will ever do.. Thanks be to God.. Have a great day, Donna | |

From Beyoncé to Avril Lavigne, female music stars are uniformly sexy

NEW YORK - She was an “amazing talent,” a young singer with a wonderful voice who wrote beautiful songs. But she was no beauty, plus flat-chested and overweight to boot.
Remembering the aspiring star, music executive Jody Gerson still feels terrible about thinking: “She’s never going to get signed, even though she’s fabulous.”
Gerson might feel even worse after Wednesday night’s exit of the matronly Melinda Doolittle from “American Idol.” In today’s music industry, Plain Janes need not apply. Sex appeal was once considered a bonus for a woman; now it’s practically a requirement.
Doolittle and the heavyset, gap-toothed LaKisha Jones were widely considered this season’s most talented “Idol” contestants. Yet both were eliminated from the final four in favor of Blake Lewis, who makes the teen girls swoon, and the long-locked, 17-year-old looker Jordin Sparks.
A quick check of the Billboard Top 40 turns up a list of candidates for “America's Top Model”: Avril Lavigne, blonde stunner Carrie Underwood; tomboyish but sexy Ciara,... | |
