| George Jones Speaks Out | | I was on aol today and saw this article about george jones. He's speaking out against Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, two of the newest big country stars that he feels isn't country at all. Read the article to find out more but here's a snippet "they've stolen our identity." And, he maintains, they need to give it back and move on to another genre."http://www.theboot.com/2009/11/03/george-jones-carrie-underwood-taylor-swift/?icid=webmail|wbml-aim|dl1|link2|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.theboot.com%2F2009%2F11%2F03%2Fgeorge-jones-carrie-underwood-taylor-swift%2FSo what do you think? | |
| | George Jones | | I have heard a song George Jones put out years ago. I think it's called "I'm a People". I absolutely love that song, The first time I heard it, my mom and I were taking my grandma to have chemo therapy. The song was cute and my grandma was laughing. Durning those final months of her life, it was very rare to see her laugh. I guess thats why I loved the song. However. I seem to be having trouble as to finding the song. Would anyone know where I could possibly retrieve this song? I would appreciate any and all replies back. Thanks. | |

| What's your favorite George Jones song? | | I grew up listening to old country music. My grandpa would sing and play the guitar. We would always listen to George Jones and some other country singers such as Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Earl Thomas Conley and Hank Williams Sr. Some of my favorite songs by George Jones include The Grand Tour, White Lightning, He Stopped Loving Her Today, A Good Year For The Roses and The Bottle Let Me Down. What's one of your favorite George Jones songs? | |
| | What if country music today was like the George Jones ERA? | | Have you ever gave much thought about how country music would be like if it was like it was in the George Jones's Greatest Era? Or maybe like it was when the Great patsy cline was alive? I don't know about you but, to me some country music is more like soft rock when I was a kid. There are some artists that still try to keep a part of the past alive by re-singing some of the old songs such as Rose Garden. Then there are others that keep pressing a new wave into the country music industry. However there are some wonderful artists that are singing great country music. Like Alan Jackson, but what is your favorite old time country music artist and what would you like to see the country music industry be more like? | |

| Why is George Jones called the Possum, and who gave that name? | | I know that George Jones is known as NO SHOW JONES, for missing over 50 concerts in 1979, but I am curious as to where the Possum name comes from and who gave him the name. I thought maybe it had something to do with oppussum's playing dead. I have read his biography on CMT, and nothing was mentioned about it. Thanks for your input. This one has been driving me crazy for about 3 weeks now.

| New School Vs. Old School | | You hear it said on the ball field, the basketball court and the gridiron all the time.
“That guy out there, he’s Old School.”
You never hear anyone referred to as New School.
I'm wondering if there's something wrong with New School. Maybe it's not all that great, but it did get me to thinking about New School vs. Old School when it comes to every day life.
Everything out there today is New School. From TV remotes to telephones to how we shop for food is designed to be sleeker, faster and sparkled with enough gadgetry to look like Disney World.
Even the way we speak has changed. We’re no longer thirsty. We hydrate.
We aren’t hungry anymore. We’re carb and protein deprived.
I was thirsty the other day and went looking for a water fountain at the grocery store. Finding none, I had to settle on forking out a dollar for a bottle of spring water. That’s when I saw the sign pasted above the shelf storing the water: New and Improved with Flavor Enhancers!
I wondered how you could make water new and improved, and was doubly confounded when I saw that flavor enhancers were added to something that has no taste.
Water had definitely made the jump to New School.

| | Do you think music today sucks!! | | Is it just me or does anyone miss Ronnie VanZant and Hank Williams Sr. as much as I do. I think Ronnie and Hank were both poets, and died way to young. I still love to here the old time Rock & Roll and classic country, but the music today in my opinion just sucks. Don't misunderstand me there are still a few songs coming out that I like but they are few and far between. May be like Hank Jr. said I'm just a dinosaur and I should die out long ago. I liked the out Outlaws, but Johnny Paycheck, Waylon Jinnings are gone and Willie Nelson looks like he need a walker to get around, and I don't know what the hell happen to Hank Jr.. Like George Jones, I wonder who gone a fill there shoes. Well I'm so lonsome I could die how about you? | |
