He was 91.Locklin died Sunday at his home in Brewton, Ala., Opry publicist Jessie Schmidt said. She said the cause of death was not being released.Locklin helped usher in "the Nashville Sound" that gave country music a more lush feel. He performed on the grand ole Opry for 47 years."I've been blessed to have hit songs that are timeless and appeal to the generations," he said in 2001.recently released his 65th album, "By the Grace of God."His "Send Me the Pillow You Dream On" was a hit in 1958 and "Please Help Me I'm Falling" in 1960."Send Me the Pillow You Dream On," which Locklin wrote, also was recorded later by Johnny Tillotson and Dean Martin. He joined the Grand Ole Opry cast in 1960 and last performed there on Sept. 8, 2007, Schmidt saidLocklin spent 19 years...
Grand Ole Opry
[em]happy[/em]Has anyone ever been to the Grand ole opry? I am planning a trip there and was wondering what there is to do there. Is there a tour we could take of the Opry itself? I really don't want to see a live show there, but take a tour. Do you know if you need reservations? Is there anything else that is worthwhile to do in Nashville for someone that has never been there? I have gone several times to Nashville but never had interest in the Grand ole opry. One of my friends is dying to go there. He cannot walk for very long so I did a little research and found a place that rents scooters, but I am just curious if anyone has ever gone there and what to expect. Thanks for any help/contributions! We are going next week. 60."Send Me the Pillow You Dream On," which Locklin wrote, also was recorded later by Johnny Tillotson and Dean Martin. He joined the Grand Ole Opry cast in 1960 and last performed there on Sept. 8, 2007, Schmidt saidLocklin spent 19 years recording for RCA Records. His other hits included "Let Me Be the One," "Geisha Girl," "Why, Baby, Why" and "It's a Little More Like...
did you-all watch the Grand Ole Opry last night?
hello all of my good friends here at Mylot!did you-all see the Grand Ole Opry last night? if you didn't, you missed probably one of the best shows that the Opry had to offer. Mr. Charlie Daniels was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. i think it is about time that they made this man and his band a part of the show. so, tell me, first of all, did you see the show last night?also, what do you think about them finally inducting Charlie Daniels into the Grand Ole Opry?and finally, what song of Charlie Daniels do you like the best?thanks for sharing!
Did you ever watch the Grand Ole Opry?
I have seen it a few times and I was wondering how many of you seen it and what was your favorite?
wellllllll..i never felt more like singing the bluuuuues...
How many of you remember that song! I still sing it! My cats love it when I sing that song! Go figure that one out..lol. By the way..anyone..singing the blues? and I don't mean vocally. lol. I found a site singandsnap I think its called..have to check it up..where you can sing any song and also do a duet even if the other person is across the ocean. The internet is so fantastic. Any singers in MyLot..what's your type and do you do any gigs?
What song do you feel at the moment?
Yesterday, I was listening to a lot encouraging songs and I am feeling a lot of Corinne Bailey Rae's songs like "Put your Records On" and "Til it Happens to You". Which songs do you really relate to at the moment?
I grew up in the south
I grew up in east tennesse and I love it,has anyone else ever visited this state or lived there?
taylor Swift doll to come out
I just heard that a taylor swift doll is coming out soon, with clothes fashioned with what she has worn on stage, and will be included with her signature guitar.I know taylor swift is considered a good role model, but do we really need another singer with a doll out there?Would it be something you would buy, or you would buy your kids? With money crunches happening all over the place I have to wonder if its not going to go over as well as hoped Mooch
To or not to do...What will you do this summer or for your vaction?
I know with the rising cost of airfare and gas prices that many people are staying close to home this summer. I do not blame you at all. It gives people a chance to check out what available to do in there own areas. I live in Tennessee, yet I have not been to the Grand Ole Opry or Opry Land. There are many caves, rivers, and activities around here to do. Water slides and amusement parks are a couple of things. The zoo and museums. We have many things to do in Tennessee. It's odd that people want to travel, me included to other places to see wonderous things when we all have many right in our own areas. I love seeing a visiting other places. I have not been anywhere for 2 years,(outside this country). Now with the prices I do not know that it is much of an option anymore. I take my granchildren to the science museum, the park, bowling, and to the drive in movies. There is an art museum close by that I will take them to this summer. Also, the many cabins on the lake sounds like something fun to do. I just will not be able to stay there long becuase none of them allow you to bring your pets. My "pets' are my babies. They saty in doors and know what they are supposae to do...
I failed.. but it's not the end of it.
A discussion from moonastrid made me decide to share this thing about my failure in school. On my first semester as a second year college, I failed to pass the course Mathematics on Finance. I must say that I am not a good mathematics student that's why. But the main idea here is I failed because I am too lazy or maybe I lack the patience to learn the topic. And so, I am now here, will go on a summer class starting on monday. My first ever summer class ever since I got into school. I think that failures are not meant to destroy us but to mold us in the way we want to be. The most important thing is not about falling but in rising every time we fall. I gathered some informations about many successful and famous people around the globe and their stories of failures. I hope that you'll get inspired by them also:)Thomas Edison's teachers said he was "too stupid to learn anything." He was fired from his first two jobs for being "non-productive." As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?" Edison replied, "I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000...
