| | Do you think music today sucks!! | | Is it just me or does anyone miss Ronnie VanZant and Hank Williams Sr. as much as I do. I think Ronnie and Hank were both poets, and died way to young. I still love to here the old time Rock & Roll and classic country, but the music today in my opinion just sucks. Don't misunderstand me there are still a few songs coming out that I like but they are few and far between. May be like Hank Jr. said I'm just a dinosaur and I should die out long ago. I liked the out Outlaws, but Johnny Paycheck, Waylon Jinnings are gone and Willie Nelson looks like he need a walker to get around, and I don't know what the hell happen to Hank Jr.. Like George Jones, I wonder who gone a fill there shoes. Well I'm so lonsome I could die how about you? | |

| AS LONG AS WE'RE INTO MUSIC; I made it BIG this morning. | | I've listened to every genre of music but I outright reject rap and "gangsta" stuff. Maybe that's because Country music has played a major part in my history, probably because my Dad was Country/Western as far back as I could remember and we shared a lot of time and a lot of that music over a beer or two. Even at work, he had the radio on the Country station all day long and almost every album he owned was Country. We were both taken by Gospel, but also tear-jerking, sheat-kicking and truck-driving sounds, from Hank Williams to Willy Nelson, Patsy Cline to Loretta Lynn and everybody in between.I just want to say that I loved the stuff, but when I first heardCharlie Pride, it was a turn of the corner for me. It was country at it's most bestest. The reason I bring this up is twofold; I found CP on you tube this morning and it reminded me...
CP sang a Gospel song that I've never heard from anyone else and I love it, and would love to be able to sing it again:"In Jesus' Name. Amen." I think that's the whole title but it's not on you tube, and although I remember the tune well, I can't recall all the lyrics.Part of it goes:"Father, open up my eyes to... | |
| | Rolling Stone Salutes Rock Star Dads | | I moseyed on over to Rolling Stone.com yesterday to view the photo gallery of rock star dads with their children. It was very interesting because we don't normally see them as being dads. One photo of Hank Williams and children dated all the way back to the 40s. I was unfamiliar with a few of the dads pictured there but all of the photos were great. It helped me to see them in a whole new light. So, who would you not think of in a fatherly way? | |

| What happened to Country Music? | | I have loved Country Music since I was a kid. Anything from Hank Williams (Sr) and Earnest Tubb to Merl Haggard and Waylon Jennings. I enjoy some of the new artists and some of their songs but to me, Country in now moving to Country Rock and even Pop. Some of the NEW COUNTRY is not even in the genre in my opinion. What do you all think? | |
| | Pop in Country | | There was a time when it appeared that country music was going to return to its roots and become traditional once again. The mid to late 80's brought superstar upon superstar answering the call of fans hungering for simple, pure, well written melodies and songs. It is sad to see the industry turning 'pop' once again. Kenny Chesney has abandoned his once traditional tunes. Rascal Flatts is destroying the industry while making school girls swoon over their beltings.Where are the modern day Merle's? Who is going to carry the mantle of Hank Williams and the other greats? In the immortal words of George Jones......who's going to fill their shoes? | |
